Megan and Kevin were married in a traditional church ceremony at Remsenburg Community Presbyterian followed by an outdoor tented reception in the groom’s parent’s backyard in Westhampton, N.Y. last spring. The wedding theme was “East Meets Midwest” – a combination of the bride’s Midwestern roots and the groom’s East Coast upbringing. “All my family was flying in from the Midwest, so we really wanted to show them a beachy weekend, while at the same time, keeping in touch with my Kansas City roots with the BBQ theme,” Megan said. The bride wore a satin trumpet wedding gown with an illusion lace straps, while the groom wore a dark gray suit, accessorized with a blue tie. Bridesmaids wore “dusty shale” chiffon dresses and carried wildflower bouquets. Megan’s best advice following the ceremony? ”Take a minute to enjoy the evening alone with your new husband,” she said. “Even if it’s just for a moment, have some couple time before you head back to the dance floor together.” Guests were escorted to their seats at farm tables with pig figurines. ”I wanted the florals to be a little ‘messy’ and not too perfectly organized,” Megan said. Plus, unexpected details like bowls of strawberries too! ”The rehearsal dinner was a lobster bake, then the wedding was a pulled-pork, ribs, BBQ-fest, so there was a little something for everyone,” she said. In lieu of a cake, a variety of pies were served. See the full board here.
