A Yellow DIY Wedding: Bow Ties, Pugs, Balloons & A Floral Sash

I’m lucky to have featured some pretty amazing weddings on this blog. Weddings full of style, personality, colour and love. But of all the weddings I’ve featured, this wedding, all the way from Sydney, Australia, has to be one of the coolest.

{Being the wrong side of 25, I’m hoping cool still means…you know cool…aka ‘hip’ or just down right awesome!}

There are so many things to love about this DIY wedding…here’s a few of my favourite touches:

~ The bride’s 50s tulle dress, floral sash and blush peep toe shoes combo

~ Hanging bottles of flowers adorning the venue

~ The couple’s adorable pug puppies

~ Yellow, yellow everywhere!

What an incredible wedding…

Come back this afternoon and watch it in motion ~ I’ll be sharing Karen & Paul’s equally cool wedding video!

The Details from Leigh at Sugar Love Weddings:

Karen & Paul worked on all the design elements of their day with two of their dearest friends. Yellow was the main colour featured throughout.The terrace overlooking the harbour was charming with patterned bunting.

Karen visited the flower markets for fresh flowers & lemons and her bouquet was filled with peonies, billy buttons, daisies, freesias and Queen Anne’s Lace.

The courtyard was transformed into a rustic dreamland with glass bottles of wildflowers hanging amongst the bunting overhead. A close friend sang a love song as Karen was escorted down the aisle by her father, Phil.The couple arranged for her father to officiate the ceremony as a surprise. The couples beloved puppies make a visit too.

Guests enjoyed a game of bocce before dinner where mini round blackboards popping out of the top of bright yellow lemons were used as place settings. Simple hessian was used as table runners as the long tables. A vintage typewriter was used by guests to leave special notes for the couple.The oversize yellow balloons were the perfect photo prop for fun loving Karen & Paul.

At the end of the night guests were invited to “take a bunch” {of flowers} home with them ~ such a brilliant idea!
